LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as the "nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings." (From USGBC.org)

LEED Certification is a process by which a building can achieve official status for its green design, construction, and operation. "To earn certification, a building project must meet certain prerequisites and performance benchmarks ("credits") within each category. Projects are awarded Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum certification depending on the number of credits they achieve." (From USGBC.org)

LEED Accredited Professionals are those who have passed the LEED accreditation exam in order to be recognized as a facilitator of the LEED system. "LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the integrated design and LEED certification process.
LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes.
" (From USGBC.org)
